The Feng Shui Bagua Life Areas This Bagua (below) may be superimposed over a property, home, office or room to locate the nine Feng Shui life areas. Align the bottom of this map with the street or driveway side of your property line or the entry door to a space. You may find it helpful to print this Bagua to use as a reference as you walk through your spaces determining where the life areas are. Try it this way: Hold this map in your hands as if you were reading it (The Bagua at the top of the page and Front Door at the bottom). If you were standing in the doorway to your bedroom that entry door would be in the Skills and Knowledge, Career, or Helpful People and Travel only. Let’s say it’s in the Career area, so as you enter your bedroom it is at the center third of that wall. Wait, don’t move! Now look up and to the back left corner area of the room. That is the Abundance section of your bedroom. Look toward the right, center third of the rear space, that is the Fame and Reputation section. Further to the right in that third of the space is the Relationship section of your bedroom. See? Now look at the center band of your room. From the left moving toward the right is Family, Health, and all the way to the right Children and Creativity. You know how to locate the three life areas that align with the front of your bedroom. Remember, we decided your entry door is in the Career area, so to your left is Skills and Knowledge and to your right is Helpful People and Travel. Voilà! Now maybe, just maybe, your bedroom is not a square; imagine pulling or squishing this map to fit your space. You may have long and skinny life areas or short and wide. That’s OK, it matters not. What does matter is that you consider the life areas equal in size. You may not leave the Abundance area really big in your squishing process and allow just a puny Family area. This would not reflect balance. In our lives there are times when certain areas demand more of our attention while other areas roll merrily, merrily along. We want to keep a sense of balance in our lives as much as we're able. Let’s say you have closets, a bathroom and dressing room in your bedroom. You’ll go through exactly the same process we just talked about imagining there are no walls within your room: no closet walls or doors, no walls around the bathroom. Now imagine superimposing this Bagua over the entire space as if it were all open. Isn’t this fun?!?! You can use this Bagua over any space that has boundaries: your property, your home, a room, the garage, the top of your desk. In gratitude and with an intention to serve. |
